Scheduled posting: built-in Telegram or a service
Built-in Telegram scheduling versus a publishing service: planning horizons, cross-posting, the queue, carousels and working from any device. Which one to pick, and when.
In short: the built-in scheduler is for one-off posts in a single channel; a service is for systematic work — a queue a month long, cross-posting, photo carousels and publishing while you are offline.
Side by side
| Criterion | Built-in Telegram scheduler | A service (Postomat as the example) |
|---|---|---|
| Planning horizon | A few days ahead | Unlimited; a queue a month or more long |
| Cross-posting to VK and MAX | No | Yes, from the same post |
| Photo carousels | Yes, by hand | Yes, up to six files uploaded from a computer |
| Publishing while you are offline | Yes | Yes |
| Drafts and rescheduling | Manual dragging, one at a time | A draft list, repeat, and “publish now” |
| History and errors | Does not show failures | Status per platform plus retries |
| Result notifications | No | To your own Telegram or MAX bot |
Which to choose
- Built-in scheduler: announcing a single event, or the first weeks of a channel before a rhythm forms.
- A service: regular publishing (three or more a week), a second channel or platform, teamwork, or taking a holiday without the channel going quiet.
Switching over is painless: copy the upcoming topics into the service as drafts and reschedule them — twenty to thirty minutes buys you a fortnight ahead.
Frequently asked questions
The built-in scheduler is free — why pay?
It is free and convenient for one channel. Paying makes sense for cross-posting, a queue and an error history — that is, for saving time as the channel grows.
Does a service post on behalf of my channel?
Yes: through an admin bot the message goes out as a regular channel post, and subscribers cannot tell the difference.
Put Postomat through the same criteria: a free plan with no card required, cross-posting to Telegram, VK and MAX, and a per-platform error history.
