UTM builder for campaign links
Build a link with utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign so you can see which channel or post brought the reader.
Why UTM tags matter
UTM parameters travel with the link and tell analytics where the visitor came from, which campaign worked and which post produced the click. Without tags, traffic from Telegram, VK and MAX often collapses into “direct” or “referral”.
Core parameters
| Parameter | Meaning | Example |
|---|---|---|
utm_source | platform or source | telegram, vk, max |
utm_medium | traffic type | social, email, cpc |
utm_campaign | campaign name | spring_sale |
utm_content | distinguishes posts or ads | post_1 |
utm_term | keyword for paid traffic | smm_planner |
Rules for clean reports
- One vocabulary. Agree on spelling:
telegram, notTelegramandtgat the same time. - Latin letters and underscores. Values are safer in Latin: fewer encoding and export problems.
- Do not rewrite a published link. If a tag is already in a post, changing it breaks the history in reports.
- Test the click. Open the generated link and check that the page loads and the parameters survive.
Common mistakes
- UTM on internal links. Internal navigation is usually better left untagged so analytics stay clean.
- Cyrillic values. They are encoded and can break exports; use Latin.
- Different names for one campaign. “spring_sale” and “spring-sale” are two campaigns to analytics.
- One field for email and social. Source and medium should be separate.
