Scheduled VK posts: 3 ways and how to choose
Three ways to schedule VK posts — native scheduling, wall.post and a planner — with limits, time zones and a comparison table.
You can schedule a VK post natively, through the API or with a publishing service. Native scheduling is simplest, the API is the most flexible, and a scheduler is best for several communities and cross-posting.
Option 1. Native VK scheduling
When composing a post, click the clock icon or “Publish later” and choose a date. The post appears in the community at the appointed time. It is free and needs no third-party service.
Limits: no proper month view, awkward for several communities, and no shared queue with Telegram or MAX.
Option 2. The VK API
The wall.post method accepts publish_date — the publication time. The request is made with a community administrator token, while the queue lives on your side. This is the route for automation and custom integrations.
Keep in mind: the token needs permission to manage posts; if it is revoked, the queue stops; and the time zone must be explicit.
Option 3. A publishing scheduler
A service connects the community by token and provides a calendar, queue, drafts and statistics. The main advantage is one feed for VK, Telegram and MAX: a single post can be scheduled for several places at once.
| Method | Strengths | Weaknesses |
|---|---|---|
| Native VK | Free, nothing to connect | No calendar or cross-posting |
| API | Flexible and automatable | Needs a token and developer time |
| Scheduler | Calendar, queue, several platforms | Dependence on the service |
What matters in every method
- Permissions. Only an administrator or an editor with the right permissions can post to a community.
- Time zone. Check where the time is set: “19:00” in the service and in VK must mean the same moment.
- Media. Upload photos and videos in advance; a scheduled post with an unfinished upload may go out without it.
- Limits. Very frequent posts and identical texts raise the risk of restrictions. Keep intervals and vary the wording.
Which one to choose
One community and a couple of posts a week: native scheduling is enough. Several communities, regular content and cross-posting: use a scheduler. Custom workflows and unusual scenarios: use the API.

Frequently asked
Can I schedule a VK post for free?
Yes, native VK scheduling is free. A scheduler becomes useful when you have several communities, cross-posting and a shared calendar.
What is publish_date in the VK API?
It is a parameter of wall.post: the time when the post should be published. The service calling the API is responsible for keeping the queue.
Why did a scheduled VK post not appear?
Check the token permissions, time zone, media status and community limits. A revoked token or an unfinished upload is the usual cause.
Try it on your own channels
Free plan: one channel and ten posts a month, no card required.
